Terms of Service
Trading as People of Research Limited
Effective Date: 1st March 2025
Welcome to Research Lunch Club, operated by People of Research Limited, a company based in the United Kingdom. By joining our service as a paying member, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. Please read these terms carefully before using our service.
1. Definitions
“Member” means a paying individual who has completed our sign-up process and is eligible to receive our matching service.
“Service” refers to the platform and support provided by Research Lunch Club that matches members in groups of three for in-person networking lunches. Our role is to facilitate these matches and provide support when match members are unresponsive.
“Match” denotes a group of three members connected through our Service who are then responsible for coordinating a lunch meeting independently. For the purposes of refunds, a valid “Match” is defined as a group of three members where you have received contact details of both other members and made a reasonable effort to schedule a meetup.
“Engagement” refers to your active participation in the scheduling and attendance of lunch meetups following a valid Match.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By registering as a member and using our Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to comply with these Terms of Service, along with any additional policies referenced herein or posted on our website.
3. Membership and Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and maintain an active LinkedIn profile to join. Membership requires completion of our online sign-up form. Acceptance of your application is at our sole discretion. If you choose to cancel your membership, the cancellation will take effect at the end of your current billing period. Membership may be terminated for non-responsiveness during the matching process, inappropriate behavior reported through our feedback form, or repeated failure to adhere to community guidelines.
4. Service Description
Research Lunch Club matches members in groups of three based on their registered city. Once matched, members are responsible for scheduling and attending their own lunch meetups. If both of your match members fail to respond to your communication efforts, please contact us at support@researchlunchclub.com before the 15th of the month and we will attempt to rematch you with a new group. We do not schedule the actual lunch meetings or guarantee the availability of specific members. Our role is limited to making the initial match and offering support when needed.
5. Fees, Payments, and Refunds
The membership fee is £15 per three-month period. By enrolling, you authorize us to charge the applicable fee at the start of each membership period. If a payment fails or is delayed, your access to the Service will be suspended until a valid payment method is provided and the payment is successfully processed. Refunds are only available under the following conditions. If you do not receive any valid Matches (as defined above) within 90 days, you are eligible for a full refund. Refunds are not available if you receive Matches but then fail to engage by not scheduling or attending the arranged lunch meetups, or if you only meet one other member rather than the full group. Refunds will not be provided if you are unaware of how the Service operates, including the responsibility to schedule your own meetups. No partial or prorated refunds will be issued for mid-term cancellations.
6. Code of Conduct
Members must conduct themselves in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner at all times. Harassment, discrimination, or offensive behavior in any form is strictly prohibited. Failing to communicate with match members or repeatedly ignoring attempts to schedule a meetup is unacceptable. Sharing private information of other members without consent is not permitted. If issues arise between members, they must be reported via our end-of-month feedback form. Violations of these guidelines may result in membership termination without a refund.
7. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property rights, including content, branding, and technology related to the Service, belong exclusively to People of Research Limited. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works based on our content or technology without our express written consent.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis. We make no warranties regarding the availability of matches in any specific city. We do not warrant the success of networking or the quality of interactions. We do not warrant the responsiveness of match members. The Service is not suitable for emergency or mission-critical communications.
9. Limitation of Liability
We are not responsible for the scheduling, location, or outcomes of lunch meetings. We are not responsible for any injuries, losses, or damages incurred during in-person meetups. We are not responsible for any third-party services, venues, or costs associated with attending meetups. Under no circumstances shall People of Research Limited be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages related to your use of the Service.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless People of Research Limited, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, losses, or expenses, including legal fees, arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.
11. Force Majeure
We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in providing the Service due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, technical failures, or other unforeseen events.
12. Non-Solicitation
During your membership and for a period of one year thereafter, you agree not to solicit or recruit other members for any purpose that directly competes with the Service. This clause is intended to protect the integrity and value of our curated community.
13. Notices
All notices or communications required or permitted under these Terms shall be sent via email and/or posted on our website. Notices will be deemed received on the date sent if sent by email to your registered email address, or on the date of posting if published on our website. It is your responsibility to ensure that your contact information is accurate and up to date.
14. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom. Should any dispute arise, please contact us for an amicable resolution. If a resolution cannot be reached, the dispute will be submitted to binding arbitration under the rules of a recognized arbitration body in the United Kingdom. Until arbitration is initiated, unresolved disputes will be handled in accordance with applicable UK laws. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
15. Non-Waiver
The failure of People of Research Limited to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision unless acknowledged and agreed to by us in writing.
16. Entire Agreement
These Terms, along with any policies or guidelines referenced herein, constitute the entire agreement between you and People of Research Limited, superseding any prior agreements or understandings.
17. Modifications to the Service and Terms
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service, including matching procedures and support protocols. Changes to these Terms will be communicated via email and posted on our website with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
18. Assignment
You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms without our prior written consent. We reserve the right to assign or transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to any party at any time.
